Starter Dungeon and Example Character
Greetings Delvers and Divers alike!
FIRST
I have written up a STARTER DUNGEON for everyone called TOMB OF THE BROKEN KING. It is, of course, a point-crawl through an 8 room dungeon that highlights several of the unique aspects of the dungeon diving system, and also to show you how a dungeon can be structured. It was written up and designed entirely using the random tables and such that I provided in the core rules.
There is:
- A trap
- Creature sign
- ATR check to avoid dangers
- ATR check to speed up a process
- Searching to find either hidden treasure, or a secret path
- A possible Scene Challenge (if you make it that far. Muahahahaaa.)
- Using previous rooms to provide bonuses for future challenges
- A unique encounter designed just for this map.
- Treasures are rolled, not pre-determined
It is designed for levels 1-3, but can be easily dropped into a running campaign if you use the Encounter Designer to modify how much you encounter.
SECOND:
I have listened and written up a Level 1 character sheet as an example for how they look. This was all randomly determined to help show how you can develop and build a character when starting your game
- STR was set to 14 as I had rolled a 9 and I wanted some combat prowess
- When CHA was -1 and I rolled up a Circus Performer (Perform being a required skill) I decided to roll with it until I rolled my Trouble. When Embarrassment came along, I decided that he had insulted a noble and was soundly beaten, giving him a disfigured face, and explaining the -1 CHA
- His starting HP is therefore 6+0 or 6
- Starting Fatigue is equal to his Constitution, or 12
- His Carry Capacity is 14 due to Strength
- His starting MELEE is +1 to hit and +1 damage from STR
- RANGED is +0 and +0 cause of DEX
- He has leather armor which is +1 BODY, +0 DODGE
- BODY: +1 because of STR
- REFLEX: +0
- MIND: -1 due to CHA
- I took Awareness and Acrobatics since those felt appropriate for a circus performer to have, and also seemed reasonable for a starting character
- I took IRON FISTS because that seemed cool for a Strongman to have
- I rolled 7x5 or 35 silver, then spent that on 3 travel rations (food and water for 3 days), 2 torches, a tinderbox, and 50 ft of rope
And there you have it!
Happy Delving!
